Like Oliver Jeffers our school believes passionately in the rewards of reading and sharing stories. Our children spent the week before half-term working together with their teacher to explore in depth a classic text of their choosing. From the oceans of Moby Dick; the forests of Red Riding Hood; the islands of Robinson Crusoe the children travelled in rockets, ships and via tornados through worlds of make believe. Children who thought they knew the stories from watching films were delighted by the detail, humour and intrigue of the original texts. They were thrilled to have the opportunity to share their creative work in our ‘Child of Books’ showcase, some of which is on show currently in our display.
