On Friday 16th September, the Year 5 classes took part in some fascinating and enjoyable Indian Dance workshops with Lorraine Theobold. After transporting ourselves in our minds from Great Dunmow to India, the children experimented with mudras, symbolic gestures representing prayer, protection, fearlessness and hundreds more! We embarked on an immersive storytelling experience before getting our whole bodies moving with a mixture of classical and modern Indian dance moves. The children then worked together to produce some amazing group dances combining everything they had learned throughout the session. The morning ended with spectacular whole-class performances of the children’s work.
