Encouraging our children to develop a greater understanding of the world around them is really important to us. Our ‘off timetable’ International morning allowed mixed year groups of children to work together learning in a fun interactive way about different cultures and countries. Whether the children were performing the Hakka, Samba or learning to Scottish Reel; making dream catchers, paddy and alpine hats or beaver puppets the older children encouraged, supported and worked with their younger counterparts to ensure everybody got the most out of the celebration. The children were also inspired by Mrs Griffiths’ assembly on ‘Peace baby’ sweets (now known as jelly babies) created at the end of World War 1 to show that whatever our differences we can and should strive to live in harmony.
