Year 4 have been busy away with their DT skills this week, working in their project teams, to produce light up boxes. They needed to do very accurate measuring to ensure the frame fitted together properly. They then needed to do careful, precise sawing along the lines they had measured before assembling the pieces in a cube shape.
For the decoration, the children used card and cellophane in a variety of ways to maximise effect when the light is shone through them.
In Science, the children learned about electrical circuits and how to light a bulb so that they understood the full effect of the light box they had created.
The boxes will be displayed during an ‘Electricity Party’ with younger children in the school but also during the school’s opening evening on Thursday 18th July.
