As an introduction to our Space topic, Year 6 have been writing poems about space exploration. Their learning so far has focused on the planet Mars and an exploration rover called Curiosity. The children have also been inspired by the story of Felix Baumgartner who jumped to Earth from space.
This is Sam’s poem:
Curiosity is a robot on Mars
Used to find interesting facts about the red planet
Rover can go over any sand and rocks
Investigating if other creatures live on Mars
Oceans used to be on Mars but now it’s just rocks and sand
Used to find interesting things and film it
Sun is used at Mars but at night it can get under -200 degrees
It would take you 8.5 months to get to Mars
Through the midnight – black, galaxy – purple sky into the red planet
Yes over 3 billion years ago Mars had oceans and rivers.
