Today Y6 took part in a theatre session hosted by the Young Shakespeare Company (following their Covid risk assessment and guidelines). We were incredibly pleased this was able to take place safely as it was an incredibly engaging and inspiring session.
All of the children helped to retell the story of Macbeth and some took on the roles of some key characters. The children were encouraged to think about each part of the story in detail, considering the different characters’ perspectives and use different voices and sound effects as well.
Music was used to add suspense and build an atmosphere in each scene and the children were left with some thought-provoking points to take away:
- How does the story continue?
- Do the witches return?
- Does Malcolm remain king?
- Does Macbeth return as a ghost?
