We went hat crazy for World Book Day this week. Whether it was the hat of their favourite character, a hat that represented their favourite book or a book itself, heads were festooned with home made creations. Here are some lovely pictures of a few of the outstanding ones.
The 2022 World Book Day theme was ‘reading for pleasure’ something that we are always focused on at Dunmow St Mary’s. During their English sessions we asked all the children to think about ways to celebrate the fact that they are readers and to produce artwork and writing about this. We look forward to being able to share this with parents and families soon. Classes also read books that represent the realities of children’s lives today. Every child needs to see themselves in their reading! It’s such a lovely opportunity to celebrate reading for the whole year rather than just a day of activities!
