This morning, Year 4 brought in a variety of games/toys that have an electrical component. They shared their toys with one another and discussed how the electricity in them allowed movement, sound and lights.
To help us understand that electricity is the movement of charged particles with electrical energy between objects, we rubbed our hair with a balloon which created static electricity (electricity that is not moving).
During a walk around school, Y4 identified different appliances in a variety of rooms that use electricity. We discussed whether these were battery (cell) powered or powered by mains electricity and the pros and cons of each.
We are looking forward to exploring the wonders of electricity further.
